Moonbot Turns To Fans For Funds
Asking for donations to create next video game
Moonbot Studios wants fans to help fund their next project, The Golem, a video game based on Jewish folklore from the Czech Republic.
Fans can donate to the project through the website Kickstarter for as little as $15. Depending on the amount of money donated, fans could receive a copy of the game, a Moonbot tshirt, original art, or a digital statue of himself or herself in the video game.
The studio aims to raise $750,000 in seven weeks. Organizers admit it is a steep price.
"Fingers crossed, right? $750,000 is not cheap," says Moonbot Studios co-founder Brandon Oldenburg. "That's a lot, but for a game of this scope, it's going ot make more. If we're able to reach that number awesome, but we're still going to need to add to that pile."
If all goes according to plan, The Golem could hit the market in 2015.
"We've been kind of going full tilt on this for awhile, and we have a lot of thought behind it," says co-founder Bill Joyce. "[We have] a lot of artwork. A lot of design and things to come. We're ready to get started on it."
