The singer, songwriter and guitarist with the Bluebirds came down with a rare form of viral encephalitis a few months ago. It almost killed him. Now, Flett is having to relearn just about everything. In just a few months, he's learned how to talk again. He's now driving.

But Buddy's progress isn't the only reason he feels lucky. He says he's lucky to have so many friends. Some of them put together a benefit at The Strand in Shreveport.

And Buddy Flett took the stage. It's something fans and friends of Buddy hope will happen more often as Buddy continues to recover.
