A New Orleans police officer was charged Thursday for his alleged role in a bribery scheme involving contracts with a tow-truck company.
The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/UWwidb ) officer John Ray worked in the department's towing and recovery section, which administers a rotating list of towing companies.
An Orleans Parish grand jury indicted Ray on one count of public bribery.
Police did not immediately respond to requests for more details on the case.
It was unclear whether Ray has an attorney.
