The local NAACP held a rally just as today's thunderstorm rolled into town. Dozens of administrative members, school board members, community members and more showed up at Caddo Courthouse to show support for the public school system, which they believe is being attacked by the state government. The rally had one target in particular. The education reform bills set by Governor Jindal."You don't water down public schools and then tell me you have choices for them to go to other schools," local NAACP President Floyd Thompson said. "I have no problem with charter or voucher schools. What I'm saying, is that we cannot afford to destroy public education because we're trying to create some other avenue."The NAACP says it'll have another rally before school starts back in August.
