Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's deputy killed in crash

A Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's deputy is dead after a one-vehicle crash on LA Highway 1  this afternoon.

It happened just south of LA Highway 120 just after 2:30 p.m.

Officials say 24-year-old Deputy Rick Isaac, Jr. was driving his Sheriff's unit Crown Victoria when he entered a curve and hydroplaned on a wet patch of pavement.

Officials say his car left the roadway and hit several trees before coming to rest.

Isaac was pronounced dead at a local hospital a short while later. Officials say he was properly restrained and on duty when the crash happened.

The accident is still under investigation.

Isaac is survived by his wife, who is pregnant with their first child.
