Power is being restored to thousands of Swepco customers in Shreveport.

Swepco Spokesperson, Scott McCloud says euipment failure isbehind the outage.

McCloud tells KTBS 3 News that about six circuits at the substation on Fern to lock up.

At the height of outages nearly 5,000 people were in the dark. Officers were also forced to direct traffic at busy intersections. 

At last check about 1300 were still without power in the area.
