Shreveport, La. -

Shreveport police officers will soon be driving dozens of new patrol cars.

Mechanics are busy equipping sixty brand new Chevy Caprice Classics with lights, sirens, computers, radios and cameras.

"We're making sure we're equipped the best we can be to serve the citizens," said Chief Administrative Assistant Bill Goodin.

Once their fully equipped, Goodin says each car will be worth about $45,000.

The department bought the patrol cars with funds from the administration division.

In addition to the sixty patrol cars, the police department will also get four crime scene investigation vans and twenty unmarked detective cars.
