Authorities are investigating an overnight shooting that has claimed the life of Trice Carter, 25, in west Shreveport.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Shreveport Police officers were dispatched to a reported shooting near the intersection of Hearne Avenue at Murray Street.  Officers found an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body.  The man, whose identity has not been released, was transported to LSU Health Shreveport where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses say they saw what appeared to be a full sized, black sedan heading north on Hearne Avenue when someone inside the vehicle began firing shots in the direction of the victim who was reportedly standing near the intersection of Hearne Avenue and Murray Street .  Witness statements claim that the victim tried to run, but the sedan made a u-turn and fired at the victim again, killing him.
