Perry, Dewhurst headline Texas anti-abortion rally
An estimated 3,000 people have marched on the state Capitol for an anti-abortion rally to mark the 40th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion.
Gov. Rick Perry told the crowd Saturday that Roe v. Wade was like a Biblical scourge. Perry says Texas will do all it can to make abortions as rare as possible.
Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and Attorney General Greg Abbott were expected to address the crowd. Also appearing are the Roman Catholic Bishop of Austin, Joe Vasquez, and Texas Alliance for Life Executive Director Joe Pojman.
The event comes a day after a rally at the National Mall in Washington that featured former Pennsylvania U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum. Like Perry, Santorum unsuccessfully sought the GOP presidential nomination in 2012.
