Ten people have been arrested on charges they were involved in a heroin-distribution ring in Caddo and Bossier parishes.

Members of the Caddo-Shreveport narcotics unit conducted searches on Friday at six houses in Shreveport. Agents said they found heroin at each house.

Agents said undercover operatives bought heroin at each of the houses -- one of which was close to Broadmoor Middle School and resulted in additional charges related to possession of drugs in a school zone.

Searches were conducted at houses on Pike Street, Midway Avenue, Murray Street, Bienville Avenue, Alice Lane and Akard Avenue. Agents said they seized black tar heroin, Mexican brown powder heroin and china white heroin, as well as more than $6,000 in cash.

Those arrested and the charges were:

Jennifer Kirtz, 20, of the 3800 block of Pike Street, distribution of heroin; Jason Anguiano, 30, of Village Lane in Bossier City, distribution of heroin; Anzetta Smith, 52, of Murray Street, conspiracy to distribute heroin; Lisa Birdsong, 20, of the 600 block of Thompson Street in Bossier City, possession of marijuana; CoraLee Clotiaux, 22, of the 4000 block of Akard Avenue, possession of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of drugs in a school zone;

James Spurlock, 26, of the 4000 block of Akard Avenue, possession of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of drugs in a school zone; Hardy Gibson, 63, of the 1600 block of Alice Lane, possession of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of drugs in a school zone; David Scott, 40, of the 4000 block of Akard Avenue, possession of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of drugs in a school zone; Don Manuel, 47, of the 4000 block of Akard Avenue, possession of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of drugs in a school zone; and Jerry Carey, 69, of the 1700 block of Midway Avenue, distribution of heroin and conspiracy to distribute heroin.
