Police arrest an alleged bank robber who fled on a moped.

It happened around 2:00 Tuesday afternoon at the Wells Fargo Bank on New Boston Road.

Texarkana, Texas police say Joe Whisenant, 47, walked in the bank, made verbal threats to the teller, demanded cash, and then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

A nearby officer in the area heard the description of the mo-ped and made an arrest on Summerhill Road across from Texas High School.

Authorities say Whisenant's arrest was made within a matter of minutes of the robbery.

Police say Whisenant was not carrying a weapon.

He's been charged with aggravated robbery.
