BATON ROUGE, La. -

Baton Rouge police say they've arrested a Port Allen man and charged him with a shooting on the Fourth of July on Interstate 10 at the base of the Mississippi River Bridge that snarled holiday traffic.
Eric Jackson, 35, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count each of attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to Cpl. Tommy Stubbs.
The Advocate reports that Jackson and a 27-year-old victim were arguing over a woman in Port Allen just before the shooting, Stubbs said. The victim was in stable condition on Monday, Stubbs said.
Jackson was contacted by detectives that night but was released because of a lack of evidence, police said.
