Authorities say the mother of one of two inmates who escaped from an Arkansas jail has been arrested after she allegedly provided him with a hacksaw blade.
Miller County sheriff Chief Deputy Duke Schofield (SKO'-field) says Wednesday that 55-year-old Charlene Stewart faces charges of furnishing implements for escape.
Schofield says Stewart was arrested Tuesday night on the Texas side of the border city of Texarkana. Authorities plan to extradite her back to Arkansas, where formal charges hadn't been filed yet.
Authorities are searching for her son, Quincy Stewart, and his cellmate, Cortez Hooper, who escaped from jail Monday.
Schofield says Stewart and Hooper, who are homicide suspects, sawed metal bars on a window with a hacksaw blade.
A woman who identified herself as Charlene Stewart's mother denied the allegations.
