Shreveport police say it's possible Tuesday's home invasion and attack of an elderly woman is related to two other similar crimes in the last few months.
Officers say when the woman living in the 300 block of Bellmead Street answered a knock at her door, the man standing outside forced his way into her house, knocked her to the ground, robbed her then reportedly locked her in a closet.
The victim, said to be in her eighties, was treated for non life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.
Authorities say this is the third such attack in the last three months. Last month, someone stuffed a woman underneath a mattress during a home invasion on Greenwood Road.
In June, Helen Anderson, 84, was found dead inside her home on Vine Street. Police say she had also been locked inside a closet.
"It hasn't been officially connected. We're still working some clues and different angles to see if there are any relations to the crimes or the suspect," said Cpl. Marcus Hines.
The man who attacked the woman on Bellmead is described as a thin muscular black male. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and dark blue jeans.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373.
