A Caddo Parish constable says some people selling vacuum cleaners could be responsible for a string of vehicle burglaries in southeast Shreveport.
"With no identification, out-of-state tags, no local driver's licenses and no ties to our community, obviously it would be easier for them to get away with something as they just commit their crimes and leave," said Constable Eric Hatfield.
Hatfield says just hours before several cars and trucks were broken into, he received complaints about a group of men and women going door to door in a gated community trying to sell vacuums. Hatfield says the strange this is, none of them had any vacuums.
Surveillance cameras from the neighborhood captured video of at least two of the persons of interest.
Hatfield says they were dropped off in the neighborhood by a man driving a black Dodge Ram. In the video, the driver appeared to have waited for another vehicle to go through the automatic security gate before driving in right behind it.
Anyone with information about the crimes should call their local law enforcement agency.
