Caddo Commissioner Joyce Bowman battle with cancer continues.

In a recent consultation with neurologists, Bowman learned that due to the aggressive nature of her cancer, she will not be a candidate for the Gamma Knife surgery.

In 2012, Bowman was diagnosed with lung cancer and she recently learned that the cancer has metastasized.

Bowman is best known for being a fighter for her community, but now she's calling for your prayers as she continues the fight for her life.

“I would like everybody to remember me in their prayers, I feel the blessings from those prayers and they have made a real difference for me at this time, "said Bowman.

A prayer vigil for the commissioner will take place at 6:30p.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church in Shreveport.
