So far this year, eight people in Bossier Parish have died of homicide. But something else has claimed nearly five times that many.
Bossier City Police Chief Mike Halphen says young people go to sleep and never wake up because they're mixing illicit drugs like meth, cocaine, crack and marijuana with prescription drugs like Xanax, Valium, and Lortab.
People use illicit drugs to get high. They use prescription drugs to get back down and go to sleep for a while, but they don't wake up.
