Reporting hail damage
Spring is almost here, and that means more possibilities for bad weather. Many times when there's a threat of severe weather. That can also mean hail damage to your property.
If you have wind damage, or damage from wind driven rain or hail, then your homeowners policy should cover it.State Farm insurance agent, Kristy Smith, says the first step is to notify your agent. "First determine what their deductible is just want to make sure that the damage will exceed the amount of the deductible and if necessary we'll get that claim filed. Get someone out to look at it as soon as possible to go ahead and get the damaged fixed," said Smith.
Insurance agents say you should file the claim in a timely manner to ensure you are within the required date range for hail damage claims. Some states allow up to one year for you to file and get the damage repaired.
