Road Closure Alerts

An ice storm warning is forcing authorities to close the I-49 corridor from Bert Kouns to I-20. Authorities will also be closing down I-220 this morning.

In Bienville Parish, LA 154 at Lake Bistineau Bridge is closed. These are complete road closures and it is unsafe and unlawful to drive past a "Road Closed" barricade at any time for any reason.

Please use caution if traveling the roads this morning.

Shreveport Police officers are working several crashes on the Terry Bradshaw Passway (3132) between Interstate 49 and Flournoy-Lucas Road and have observed some apparent accumulations of ice on the bridges and overpasses on that stretch of roadway. At this point patrol supervisors are working with LADOTD to assist them in making a determination if that roadway needs to be closed. They ask that motorists avoid that area if possible.

Patrolmen are reporting some apparent intermittent accumulations of ice on bridges and/or overpasses across the city at this time. Locations include the Linwood Avenue Bridge just south of Interstate 20 and Earnest B. Miller Drive at Hearne Avenue. Authorities are urging all motorists to tailor their driving habits to suit the prevailing conditions and modify their travel routes as much as possible to avoid driving on those bridges and overpasses where ice will accumulate first.

Icy conditions on roadways in Bossier City appear to be worsening in some locations.

Bossier City police say the I-20 westbound on ramp at Traffic Street has ice on it as does the I-20 bridge over the Red River. Bossier City police are currently working non-injury wrecks involving several vehicles at that location.

The Shreveport-Barksdale Bridge also has ice on it. Officers are on the scene there working non-injury wrecks involving multiple vehicles. Bossier City police have notified the LA DOTD of these conditions.

Bossier City Public Works Dept. has its sand truck out and has applied sand to the Shed Road overpass at I-220 and is ready to assist LA DOTD with sanding efforts.

As of 7 am Bossier City police have responded to more than a dozen wrecks. Just one of those wrecks involved an injury. It was minor and the person did not require transport to a hospital.

Road closings in Bossier Parish are:

·         Highway 71 coming into Bossier Parish from Red River Parish

·         Highway 157 north into Webster Parish

·         Highway 614 Bridge over I-20

·         Swan Lake Bridges

·         Parks Road Bridge at the dam

·         Ninock Bridge in South Bossier

·         Loggy Bayou Bridge in South Bossier

·         Highway 154 Bridge over Lake Bistineau

·         Highway 2 Bridge eastbound into Webster Parish 

The Benton Road overpass has re-opened!
