Shreveport police want you to speak out. They're taking efforts to put a stop to all the gun violence in the community. But they need your help to save a life.

"I think it's awful that they think they can come in this city and do that kind of crap, stuff, and think that's ok. I mean some kind of message we need to get out to them, let them know it is absolutely not gonna be tolerated," Councilwoman Joyce Bowman said.

The Shreveport Police Department agrees. The rash of gun violence in the area is prompting authorities to ask the community to get involved in getting criminals off the streets.

Police say the "Don't shoot, we want to grow up" campaign is a way to get everyone involved to help end the gun violence. Your tip could ultimately save a life.

Chief Herny Whitehorn says the "Don't shoot" campaign is working. Since it began in 2007, 13 arrests have been made, and 16 weapons recovered.
