In the screaming crowds of Saturday's parades, you would've found Shreveport Police Officers on alert. The department took on two major parades without help from other law enforcement offices. Several parade-goers feel the police did a good job.
"I feel safe!" one said at the African American Parade Celebration. "I'm out here having a good time. There's a bus load of police doing a good job."
Police say the parades' crowds grow every year, but don't create too much trouble for them. In fact, arrests have gone down the celebrations.
"No one looks like they're here to start any violence," one woman at the Krewe of Centaur Parade said. "So, everybody looks like they're out here to have a good time."
Police say they still increased the number of officers at the events to man the crowds.
