SHREVEPORT, La. -

Back in June, little Shelby Patrick nearly drowned during a birthday party at Eastridge Country Club pool.

Now the 4th grader is at home and recovering, thanks in part to her care providers.

Today, she returned to Willis-Knighton South to thank the doctor and nurses that helped save her life.

Shelby placed medals of honor around the staffs' necks and gave hugs and words of thanks.

Her doctor calls her recovery a miracle.

"Yes, as you can see right now. This is completely unbelievable. It's probably more than a miracle to recover like this," says pediatrician Dr. Giao Do.

Just last week, Shelby gave medals to the first responders and parents who saved her at the scene of the drowning.
