A local man sits behind bars Thursday morning accused of shooting another man last month in west .

At approximately 2:10 a.m. on October 21, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a shooting in the 4200 block of Greenwood Lane. Upon arrival, officers found 30 year old Jeffery Sims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the lower extremities. Sims was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with what was described as a serious but non-life-threatening injury.

Based on information gathered during their investigation, officers were able to name 20 year old James Norman as a suspect in the case.

Authorities believe shot Sims during some sort of dispute between the two men. Investigators located early Thursday morning at a home on and took him into custody without incident.  was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of aggravated second degree battery.

Aggravated second degree battery is defined by law as “a battery committed with a dangerous weapon when the offender intentionally inflicts serious bodily injury.”
