The Shreveport city council on Thursday approved a plan to redraw district lines.

The council selected Plan 12 - Revised. It was the 13th, and latest, plan to be presented to the council.

The new district lines do no go into effect until qualifying for the 2014 city council election. The council had until December 31 to select a plan.

The Department of Justice now has to approve the changes.
