Three Shreveport firefighters were injured fighting a house fire Saturday afternoon.

The fire broke out at a home in the 5600 block of McAlpine.

One firefighter received second and third degree burns on his hands even though he was wearing all of his protective gear.

Two others were taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

"The coat and all the gear add about 30 or 40 degrees, plus they're in that super-heated environment as well and it takes a toll on the firefighters," said Brian Crawford, Shreveport fire chief.

Arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
