Shreveport's first baby of 2013 makes his entrance

SHREVEPORT, La. -

Shreveport's first New Year's baby of 2013 made his entrance into the world this morning.

D'aran Andrew Jackson was born at LSU Health at 4:42 a.m., weighing in at 5 lbs, 4 oz., and 17 inches long.

He's the youngest of five kids and his mom, Cheri Jackson, says his sibings are ready to meet him.

He was due on January 19th, but Cheri went into labor during the afternoon of December 31st.

"I told my friend I might be having my baby tonight and he started laughing. After that, I got to LSU Hospital. About 10 minutes later, once I got up to the labor unit on the other side, and they were like, 'Yeah, Mom, your water broke," Cheri Jackson said.

Mother and son are doing fine and scheduled to go home on Thursday, January 3rd.
