SHREVEPORT, La. -

The city of Shreveport has submitted the proposed 2013 operating budget.

The budget is 9.7 percent smaller than in 2012, mainly because of falling sales tax revenues for the city.

"You know we just got the recent report back from September and it basically is going along with the 3% decrease we've seen for the greater part of this year," said Assistant CAO Brian Crawford.

"So we're being very mindful. It's a very conservative estimate budget. It has a lot of room for the possibility of revenues to increase."
