A relative of a man killed by Shreveport Police has asked the FBI to look into the shooting.
Jimmerlynn Glover says police have yet to provide the family details of what led to the death of her 22-year-old nephew, Deeric Bailey. Glover, however, says two witnesses report Bailey was defenseless as officers opened fire on him along Interstate 20.
Police tried to stop Bailey's car shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday. Investigators say Bailey lost control and hit a concrete barrier. As officers approached he tried to flee again, almost hitting a passenger who had jumped out the car. That's when officers opened fire.
Police say Bailey drove away but the vehicle came to a halt on the highway's shoulder. He was later pronounced dead at LSU Hospital.
