The wait is over for some Shreveport residents force to leave their trash on their front lawns over the weekend. Garbage collections for Southern Hills residents usually happens on Friday but the trash was never collected.
One KTBS 3 caller even claims there was a smell lingering in the area due to bins of waste.
Fred Williams with the city's Public Works Department says aside from the Labor Day holiday, equipment failures are behind the back-up.
Williams says they do plan to have garbage removed from the homes by the end of the morning.
