A touching story of a soldier who wrote a letter to the daughter he had never met. Rick Rowe tells us the story in Somewhere In The Ark La Tex.

it was Christmas time...somewhere over there.... Sergeant George Alexander writes a letter to the almost 2 year old little girl... he has never met......

a letter for her ...in case he never comes home...

hello Blondie...will you accept a letter from this old dad of yours...

I have been over here for a long time still with no hope of coming home...so I thought I better write you now...because I don't think I can take this much longer the law of averages is against us now....

in this letter I'm sending you 50 dollars for Christmas...I would give anything on earth if I could be there with you....it hurt so much not being there when you were born...your mother and I had a lot planned for you and I was looking forward to watching you grow up like all fathers do...

I wanted to play with you, buy you all kinds of toys and watch the expressions on that beautiful little face of yours..,..

I wanted to look down in your crib every morning when I went to work and see you sleeping and kiss those rosy cheeks of yours....but all that was not meant to be....

I don't know what kind of father I would have made you.....I have never had the chance to see.....but i do know this....to me you would have more than a daughter...you would have been a pal and buddy and all your little troubles would have been mine...

I would have tried to have it so you would have trusted me with all your thoughts and troubles from a little baby to a grown woman...but you'll find that in your wonderful mother...

always love and believe in god, I never was much of a church goer...but I love, trust and believe in him...always go to church with your mom and talk to her about the bible...she will teach you how to read and understand all the good things in it....

when you are going out with young men always be your own judge of them...when you find the right man and you love him...and you knows he loves you no matter if he is rich or poor, marry him....

I have so terribly much to say to you .this letter could never be long enough........but what I can't say that sweet mother of yours will say some day.....

Well sweet heart...that is about all I have to say....I hope you never have to read this letter...but if you do...I hope and pray that it has helped you...I wanted to say a few things to my beautiful daughter, even if it had to be in a letter...

always remember, even if I never saw you...I loved you more than anyone can understand....

your loving Dad.....

music fades....3:00
