Students at Broadmoor Middle Lab are doing a NASA experiment that many nasa schools do not get to do.
The 8th graders are becoming experts on the science of reduced gravity.
They designed and built a robot that will explain how different environments affect the spin of a gyroscope. They collect data and graph it to track the changes in different gravity forces.
Teachers will take the robot to the Johnson Space Center in Houston. They will go up in the "vomit comet" -- which is used to train astronauts in a weightless environment.
"This is the kind of stuff you put on a college application and they're getting to be hands on and build actual things that will make learning these concepts so much more interesting and so much more real to them," said Jamie Davis, 8th grade science teacher.
Broadmoor is the only school in Louisiana and one of only five middle schools in the nation accepted to compete in this experiment.
The teachers will go to the space center in February to test the students design.
The so-called "Brolin Brawl" video will be shown to the public in Shreveport City Council chambers on Thursday. You can also see it in its entirety on ktbs.com. How do you believe Brolin and the other cast and crew members were treated by SPD?
