The suspect in the Trayvon Martin murder case is filing a civil lawsuit of his own.

George Zimmerman filed a 24-page complaint on Thursday against NBC Universal Media and three NBC employees, citing deceptive and exploitative journalism. He's accusing them of using "the oldest form of yellow journalism" by editing an audio tape of his 911 call to make him sound racist.

Zimmerman, who is charged with second-degree murder in the February 26th death of the unarmed Trayvon Martin, maintains he shot the teen in self-defense. Zimmerman says NBC portrayed him as a racist and predatory villain to increase ratings. He's also set up a website about his case against NBC. On it, he writes the site is necessary to counter the avalanche of negative publicity that has defamed his character.

Zimmerman's trial is expected to start next year.
