Suspect in killing hangs himself in prison cell
Authorities say a man suspected of killing a co-worker after walking away from a work-release program hanged himself in his cell at the Louisiana State Penitentiary.
West Feliciana Parish Sheriff J. Austin Daniel told The Advocate that 26-year-old Dustin Pleasant used a blanket to hang himself Friday.
The American Press reports that Pleasant was accused of murdering Brittany Grosse, a co-worker at Big Daddy's Sports Grill, on Nov. 30 after he walked away from a Calcasieu Parish work-release program near Lake Charles.
Pleasant had been serving an eight-year sentenced for an assault conviction at the time of Grosse's killing. He had less than a year left on his sentence.
