Prosecutors say a Louisiana sex offender charged in the deaths of a University of Louisiana at Lafayette student and another woman may have moved their bodies.
Brandon S. Lavergne, a 33-year-old from Swords, is charged in Lafayette Parish with murder in the May 19 disappearance of Michaela "Mickey" Shunick and the 1999 death of Lisa Ann Pate.
The Town Tall reports that a court filing says the "continued tampering" with Shunick's body was meant to hamper the investigation.
Shunick, a 21-year-old student, disappeared May 19 while riding her bike in Lafayette. Her body has not been found.
Lavergne was arrested July 5 and charged with murder and kidnapping. A parish grand jury later charged him killing Shunick and Pate.
