Police detectives are investigating a late night shooting in central Shreveport that has left one man dead.
At approximately 10:07 p.m. on September 12, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 4000 block of Virginia Avenue. Upon arrival there, officers were contacted by a witness who advised them that two male suspects had come to the home attempting to force their way inside. It was learned that after the suspects were unable to gain entry into the home, one or both of the suspects began to fire shots through the residences front door striking a male victim inside.
As shots were fired, the male victim, identified as 32 year old Jason Williams of the 4000 block of Virginia Avenue in Shreveport, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. The unidentified suspects fled the scene of the shooting on foot. Williams was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department, where he was pronounced deceased.
Violent Crimes Detectives and Crimes Scene Investigators quickly arrived on scene and began an investigation. At this hour, the search to identify and apprehend the suspects is yet underway. The suspects in the shooting were both described as black males, both approximately five feet nine inches to six feet tall , weighing approximately 160-200 pounds.
