DAMASCUS, Ark. (AP) -- Storms rolling across Arkansas, killed
three people, including a teenager while she slept in her bed.
Police said the 15-year-old girl was killed when a tree fell
through a bedroom where she was sleeping at her home in Siloam
Springs in north Arkansas. In central Arkansas, a state emergency
official confirmed that two people died in Conway County. Emergency
spokesman Tommy Jackson had no further details.
The storms damaged property and blew out electric service to
nearly 6,000 homes and businesses. The National Weather Service
issued tornado warnings for several counties in central and north
Arkansas, while a trained spotter reported a tornado down just
after 8:30 a.m. near Damascus. A cold front set off the severe
weather throughout the state.
