As the weather warms-up and people become more active, Texarkana, Texas police are stepping up crime prevention efforts to keep residents safe.

Police will be setting up mobile command posts in area neighborhoods.

Their goal is to deter crime and make themselves more visible and accessible to residents.

"Any crime reduction strategy starts with the people that live in that area. They need to let us know, they're the eyes and the ears of the neighborhood," said Steve Shelley, Texarkana, Texas PIO.

Officers say they'll continue to set out the mobile command center at various location as long as it's needed.
