Authorities in Webster Parish have put the brakes on some of the area's drug trafficking problem.
"It's averaged that one out of ten cars is carrying drugs," said Captain Robert Hayden.
Hayden says so far this year, deputies have seized thousands of dollars worth of marijuana and meth from vehicles on I-20. Authorities say they haven't seen as much cocaine compared to past years.
Members of the sheriff's Community Action Directive Team say 1-20, like most interstates, is a major thoroughfare for illegal drugs. It's said drugs travel east and money travels west.
WPSO has two canines that have really helped tackle the drug trafficking problem.
Captain Hayden says this year is about average when it comes to the number of arrests.
