Shreveport, La. -

Police detectives have arrested three people following an exchange of gunfire yesterday evening in Shreveport’s Queensborough neighborhood. At approximately 7:14 p.m. on May 30, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the intersection of Grove Avenue and Jackson Street relative to a report of gunshots being fired in the area. Just moments later, responding officers learned there was a male in the 3500 block of Milton Street who had been shot and, upon arrival there, patrolmen found 32 year old Cadarius Brantley suffering from at least three gunshot wounds to his legs. Brantley was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with what were initially thought to be life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel now advise they expect him to recover.Detectives immediately responded and discovered over a dozen spent shell casings on Grove Avenue between Jackson Street and Penick Street. Within the hour, about a block away from the crime scene, investigators located a Chevrolet Impala with a bullet hole in the front bumper. Believing the vehicle was involved in the shooting, they seized it as evidence and detained two subjects there as well. Based on information gathered during the course of their inquiry, authorities believe Brantley and a female identified as 23 year old Ashley Williams were involved in a verbal altercation that culminated with Brantley threatening Williams with a handgun. Williams subsequently left the scene, allegedly retrieved her pistol and gave it to her boyfriend, identified as 26 year old Quincy Jackson, after telling him what Brantley had done. With Williams driving the Impala, the couple went looking for Brantley and located him there on Grove Avenue. Upon seeing them, Brantley pulled his gun and began shooting at the car. Williams stopped the vehicle and Jackson exited the Chevy, returning fire.
After hours spent sorting out the melee, investigators have charged Brantley with one count of illegal use of a weapon, Jackson with one count of convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and Williams with one count of illegally supplying a convicted felon with a firearm. Brantley remains at LSUHSC and his booking photo is not available at this time. Williams and Jackson were booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
