A 74-year-old woman accused in Nashville, Ark., of hiring a hitman to kill her sister-in-law has been named a person of interest in the 35-year-old murder of her husband in Texarkana.
JoAnn Hicks of Ogden was charged in Nashville this week with being an accomplice to first-degree murder. Her brother, 63-year-old David Camp of Stamps, was also charged.
They are accused of hiring Harry Surber of Ashdown to kill Camp's estranged wife, Robin Camp, on Memorial Day. She was shot at the Family Dollar Store in Nashville.
Texarkana, Texas, police on Thursday said they have reopened the investigation into the 1973 slaying of JoAnn Hicks' husband, Herbert. JoAnn Hicks and Camp are persons of interest, police said.
Herbert Hicks was walking into his home in 1973 when he was shot.
Howard County Deputy Prosecutor Bryan Chesshir said weapons confiscated in the Robin Camp murder investigation could provide new leads in Hicks' slaying.
Chesshir said Surber made statements to authorities that implicated David Camp in the 1973 shooting.
