KTBS 3 has confirmed that Thursday's storms have resulted in at least one fatality.

According to the Sabine County Sheriff Tom Maddox a 74-year-old female succumbed to injuries sustained during tornadic activity.

Maddox says a tree fell on the woman's home. Her identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The sheriff says about 40 homes in the area have been damaged. The sheriff could not confirm any other injuries in the area.
