A toddler is dead and four others injured after a fatal crash in North Caddo Parish.

It happened on Highway 71, north of Munnerlyn Chapel Road around 4 p.m. this afternoon.

Caddo Sheriff's Officials say a 2000 Ford Expedition was traveling southbound when it left the road on the right side and hit a tree.

The driver, 59-year-old Elaine Knox of Shreveport and three other passengers, one identified as 68-year-old Bertha Hudson, were taken to LSU Health Shreveport with serious injuries.

4-year-old Michelle Hudson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sgt. Mike Gray with the Caddo Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the crash and says, "All factors from standing water, vehicle condition, to proper restraint use will be examined before any citations - if any - will be issued."
