Cleanup was underway today at the scene of a derailment where three cars of a freight train burned after a collision with a log truck. The fire was extinguished overnight.

The Weyerhaeuser saw mill that sits along the railroad tracks in the Bienville Parish community of Ada resumed operations this morning. The company will have to rebuild a mobile equipment shop that was hit by the burning freight cars.

Ten cars of the Kansas City Southern freight train derailed Monday afternoon after the train hit a log truck at a railroad crossing along U.S. 80. No one was injured but three cars caught fire.

None of the cars was carrying hazardous materials so evacuations were limited to the saw mill.

Weyerhaeuser spokesman Mike Wolff said the saw mill resumed operations at 6 a.m. Traffic is being diverted around the derailment site while cleanup is done, law enforcement officials said.
