A husband and wife were killed today when their car went out of control on a snowy patch of road in Cass County, Texas, and hit a tree.

The accident happened shortly about 8:50 a.m. on FM 249 just outside Atlanta. Killed were Bradley Pierce, 29, and Dana Louise Pierce, 29, of Queen City, Texas.

The couple's two daughters -- 4-year-old Alyssa and 2-year-old Bailey -- were riding in child safety seats in the back seat and were not seriously injured, troopers said.

State troopers said Mr. Pierce was driving and lost control of his car on a snowy part of the road. The car veered off the road and into a tree, troopers said.

The couple were both wearing seat belts. Mrs. Pierce was pronounced dead at an Atlanta hospital. Mr. Pierce was dead at the scene, troopers said.
