Authorities say a Denison, Texas, man drowned in the Red River while trying to help a child.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol also says a Tulsa teenager drowned in Keystone Lake.
In Bryan County, 38-year-old Kenneth Cowart jumped in the river to help a man and two children about 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The man and one child got out, but the other child didn't.
Cowart reached the child and was headed back to the shore when they encountered a strong current. He pushed the child across the current to safety but he went under. Denison, Texas, firefighters recovered his body.
Troopers say 17-year-old Thomas Alvarez was on a surfboard at Keystone Lake when he fell off of it about 7:38 p.m. Saturday.
His body was recovered about 8:45 p.m.
