A handful of cars are involved in separate accidents on I-20 at Airline Drive.
The two, multi-vehicle accidents have left traffic at a standstill on both sides of the interstate.
Bossier Police say it the accidents happened around 5:00pm.
The initially accident was in the westbound lane and was followed 5 minutes later by an accident in the eastbound lane.
Authorities say both eastbound lanes are blocked and traffic is being detoured onto Old Minden Road.
One lane of westbound I-20 is open at this time.
Five people were injured in both wrecks and all injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
 Police say it could be a while before the scene is cleared.
