Two people are dead following an officer involved shooting just outside of Shreveport city limits Wednesday.
It happened around 8:30 am near George Road in Caddo Parish.
Both parish and city authorities worked the scene.
According to authorities, it all started when police responded to a call from a woman stating that she was in distress and inside a parked car on Grimmett Drive.
When police arrived on scene they found the woman and a male driver, a chase then ensued. Authorities tell KTBS 3 News the man shot the woman and kept driving the vehicle. According to authorities, the chase ended when the man got out of the vehicle and started firing shots in their direction. Authorities fired back and the suspect was fatally wounded.
Both the suspect and the woman were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two police officers have been placed on routine administrative leave, which is protocol anytime there is a shooting.
The entire ordeal happened within a span of seven minutes.
