A recall petition has been filed against the Speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives, the fourth such petition filed against a state lawmaker since legislators voted last week to double their own pay.

The petition against Speaker Jim Tucker, a Republican from the New Orleans area, was hand-delivered to the secretary of state's office in Baton Rouge today, a spokesman for the office said.

Petitions had already been filed against Reps. Steve Pugh of Ponchatoula, Franklin Foil of Baton Rouge and Joseph Lopinto of Metairie.

More petitions are expected. The secretary of state's office has received more than 30 requests for petition packets.

To force a recall election, a petition needs at least a third of a district's registered voters, gathered within 180 days.
