Two suspected killers are on the run after escaping from the Miller County Jail overnight.
Cortez Hooper, 23, and Quincy Stewart, 36, were last seen in their cells around 3 a.m., this morning. An hour later, they were gone.
Miller County Chief Deputy Duke Schofield says the inmates used a hack saw blade to cut through the metal bars covering a 12 inch wide 3 1/2 foot tall window. a window. Next, they used one of the bars to break the window. They then used two mattresses to protect them from the broken glass as they climbed out the window of their second floor onto an outside courtyard. Authorities are still trying to figure out how they managed to scale the ten foot fence with razor wire at the top.
Hooper is from Texarkana, Arkansas, and was jailed on a charge of first-degree murder, assault and probation revocation. He is described as a black male, 5'4" tall and weighing approximately 130 pounds.
Quincy Stewart is a black male and stands about 5' 7" tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. Stewart is from Texarkana, Texas, and was being held on a capital murder charge in Bowie County. He's also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
