LaPlace, La. -

Two suspects are in custody in Louisiana after two sheriff's deputies were shot to death in an early morning shootout at LaPlace, west of New Orleans.
Authorities are looking for a third suspect in the shooting that also injured at least two others.
A Louisiana State Police trooper says the two dead St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff's deputies were working off duty to manage traffic along Louisiana Highway 3217. It connects U.S. Highway 61 with a strip of chemical and oil refineries and steel plants along River Road near the Mississippi River.
State police did not identify the deputies or the suspects.
